Nashville Songwriters Night @ Mojo's Vinyl Bar - Highwood IL

Hey folks!

Last night, the family and I went up to Highwood to see my friend Brian Allison and his new Nashville friends perform a smattering of their original work. What a fantastic show! I woke up feeling so inspired, I thought I'd written a brand new song while my kid's eggs were cooking, only to discover I was re-writing Bon Iver's song “re: stacks”. Oh well… next time! I still feel inspired.

Songwriter's in the Round - July 6th 2021

Hey folks!

Back in July I had the honor of sharing the stage with several talented songwriters for Todd Kessler's final (at least for now) Songwriters in the Round at Hey Nonny in Arlington Heights. I was so excited for the occasion that I hired my friend Max Williams to shoot video of my performance, and then promptly allowed five months to pass before actioning his fantastic footage. (So it goes... lol)

You can watch the following five songs by clicking the link embedded in the title:

The Butterfly Boy

Ampersand

Save for a Miracle

The Nice Guy

Alright

In addition to the five original songs posted to my videos section and Youtube, I'd also like to provide a link to our performance of the song "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones. It's one of my favorite songs to cover, so I was thrilled when Todd suggested we all trade verses on it. You can watch that video here.

Please take a minute to check out Todd Kessler, Despina Pafralides, and Bill Grady!

And until next time, be good to yourselves, and be good to each other.

Goodbye Chase Bowman, Hello Chase Ventrella

Dear Internet,

For those of you who don't know me yet, hey there! I'm Chase Ventrella. It's a pleasure to meet you (you may now skip to the end of this blog).

For those of you who do know me, you may be wondering why I've decided to change my last name. There are a number of reasons, the foremost of which is there are a number of established Chase Bowman's already on the market, whereas there appear to be no established Chase Ventrella's.

My lovely "wife", Diana Ventrella, and I intend to officially tie the knot sometime this year, at which time the name change will become legal and permanent, and my "wife" will become my wife. If the preceding sentence is confusing, I apologize. I can't use the term "fiance" without picturing some recently engaged couple regaling people with unsolicited tales of their bubbly young love. I also can't verbalize the word without applying a nasal quality to my voice, but in any case, I'm veering away from my point.

Chase Bowman has served me well, but in the age of the internet, I will admittedly be glad to not be confused with cinematographers, illustrators, marketing directors, football coaches, and random high school and college students bearing the same name.

Sincerely,

Chase Ventrella
